One of my beauty resolution of the year was to buy more Black-Owned Beauty brands so in today blog post, I will be reviewing Lena Lashes More Matte Than Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I will go through the process of ordering, the formula plus swatches. I first got three of the shades around February (James, Dante and Idris) and got four more during the 5$ sale (Guy, Lucious, Tony and Kevin).
First off, I’m really in love with the colors I got. Mostly with James which is the perfect everyday color. I have a similar color with every brand of liquid lipsticks I owned. The formula is quite drying but like any liquid lipstick, if you moisturize prior to putting these on, you will not have an issue. They dry within second. These bad boys will stay literally all day on your lips. I eat and snacks a lot during the day, so I know what I’m talking about. I swatch these on my hand and with all the scrubbing I did, there was still traces of the lippies after a few days. The pigmentation of these is pretty good, one coat and I'm set with a good liner. The only one I had an issue with was with Idris which is very sad. You guys know that I love my red lippies but this one is not opaque. It's very patchy and difficult to get a uniform result without using a liner prior. you have to put a few coats otherwise. A lot of people had problems with Idris from what I saw on Instagram.
At first, I didn’t really like the wand of the tubes, but with practice, it has become a favorite of mine because of how precise you can get.
They also change their packaging, on my first order, each lipstick came in a black and gold packaging with suede interior. Now it’s the plain white box.
Shipping + Process
I remember on my first order, after two weeks they still haven’t shipped my package. I was worried because they had a five days processing and after all this time I didn’t get any update and went on their Instagram and saw people with the same issues. So I emailed them and were very fast at replying. She called and texted me to notify that they will ship my order on the same day. I, however, understand because they were still a new company and got an overwhelming number of orders and forgave them because I really like the products. My second order went way smoother. I could of get my products earlier if it wasn’t for USPS that kept my order forever at their facility. Both times, I ordered the shipping was 10$ which is very reasonable.
Overall, I’m pleased with my products. They are long wearing but you all you hydrate your lips very well first. If they came out with more colors, I will definitely order more.
Have you tried the brands yet?
